• RHP Paul Byrd has already walked four batters in his first two starts covering a span of 7 1/3 innings. Last year, Byrd did not give up his fourth walk until June 6, in his 10th start of the season.

The best high school, collegiate and amateur athletes were also honored at the star-studded event, emceed by former NBA star Bill Walton.
 
Brunswick quarterback Sean Bedevelsky took home the prize for High School Athlete of the Year. He battled Mentor's Bart Tanski every step of the way this season, so beating him out for the award is something special, he said.

Other winners include Cleveland's Raynell Williams for the Amateur Athlete Award. The boxer will represent the U.S. in this year's summer Olympics.

Michelle Sikes, a Lakewood High School graduate, won the College Athlete of the Year award. The track and filed star will run on the U.S. World Championship team.

Jeff Mayor was chosen as the Cleveland Clinic Courage Award winner. He made his way back onto the Case Western Reserve University football filed after surviving a near-fatal car crash in 2005.
 
And Joe Tait, the voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers for the last 36 years, was honored as the Sports Commission's Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
